Haute Savoie
The Haute Savoie is located to the east of France in the Alps, bordering both Switzerland and Italy. Footpaths cross the parks and nature reserves, with opportunities to take in the fresh mountain air, the peaks (including Mont Blanc) rising against the skyline, and the green pastures networked with clear, trickling streams. Lake Leman
Lake Leman constitutes the largest fresh water reserve in Western Europe: A surface area of 58 000 hectares and a maximum depth of 309.70 meters. A veritable little inland sea! Its sheer volume means that it never freezes over. It has a warming effect on the surrounding climate and vegetation, so much so that the shores of Lake Leman sometimes have a feel of the south about them. Tthe scenery is ever changing. To the west of Thonon, you will find small dunes and sandy beaches. To the east, the so-called “Haut Lac” area can be likened to a Nordic fjord. As the hours go by, Lake Geneva can be romantic, fun or flamboyant. Each port, be it on the French or Swiss shore has its own charm and deserves a visit. Thonon-les-Bains
Thonon-les-Bains is located on the French shores of Lake Geneva, in the north of Haute-Savoie, in the Lower Chablais region. With over 30 000 inhabitants, it is the second largest town in the “département” Set between lake and mountains, Thonon is spoilt by nature and has cultivated a certain “art de vivre”. Set against the backdrop of the Chablais Pre-Alps, Thonon-les-Bains is built on 3 different levels, in a naturally arch-shaped bay. The upper town is where most of the shops are to be found. From here there is a superb view of Lake Geneva, especially from the panoramic viewpoint. Les Thermes (the spa centre) also overlooks the lake. With some 800 boats moored in its pleasure port, it’s just like being by the sea. You could almost forget that the Alps are so close by! The fishing port, which is quieter and nestled behind Rives Castle, has an important role to play for gourmet holidaymakers. Visitors to the area can enjoy the delicacies of Lake Geneva by sampling perch, fera, turbot and charfish - to be followed by the delights of hearty Chablais cuisine
The Development
Just west of the centre of the town you will find the new development. Only 500m from the lake and within 2 minutes of local shops and amenities.
