The film festival has recently celebrated the career of Leopoldo Trieste, a Calabrian actor who starred in Tornatores paean to the everlasting magic of movies. Caulonia, like the neighbouring towns of Monasterace and Roccella Jonica, has plenty of religious and gastronomic festivals to celebrate.
During August there are several important festivals, notably Tarantella Power which celebrates the fiery passionate tarantella dance that originated in Calabria. There are two airports, Lamezia and Regio De Calabria within a 55-60 minute drive from Caulonia.
